Joan Sexton

Joan Sexton has worked in watercolor and pastel for more than twenty years and loved every minute of it. She prefers to go out in nature and find a scene that fills her with excitement. Abstract art also calls to her and she has completed many acrylic abstract paintings. She recently found a wonderful process – working with hot beeswax – a medium known as encaustic painting. This ancient art form is having a renaissance in the art world today. Encaustic is comprised of beeswax and damar resin – heat must be applied to each layer and color is added until the painting is complete. The whole process can be surprising, mysterious, and exciting!|
